Sitgreaves Mountain Railraod is located in the ponderosa pines of Northern Arizona at an elevation of 7050'. Named after nearby 9388' Sitgreaves Mountain, the railroad is a work in progress and represents an example of many of the past logging railroads of Northern Arizona. Steam locomotives were a commom occurence on these railroads from the 1890's up until the last steam whistle blew in 1960. The line currently consists of about 1500' of track and includes a loop around the property and a wye. A 2-8-0 consolidation steam engine was completed in April 2011 and operates on the line regularly. A small electric engine and an American 4-4-0 steam engine compliment the locomotive roster. The route consists of true mountain railroading with grades approaching 4% and tight radius curves.
